About Us

Our story begins in India. Mom was born and raised in Dehradun. Dad was born in Old Delhi and raised in New Delhi. When they came to Canada in the early 70s, Mom brought her knowledge of our rich fabrics, embroideries and stitching techniques, while Dad brought his accounting background and a long-standing relationship with his childhood friend who owned a top tier bridal brand back home.

In 2003 my sister designed her dream wedding outfits with Mom's help and Dad's connections. Her looks were stunning. The word spread and people started calling on us to design outfits for their big day. We quickly became known as the brand that was ahead of the curve on bridal design and unmatched when it came to customer service.

We started from the basement, and now we're here. Our studio, our sanctuary, is located in Vaughan. Our parents are our backbone, we love coming to work, and our clients have become our story.

OUR TEAM

Gaurav Sawhney | Owner
Gaurav was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, grew up around the GTA and loves Toronto’s arts community. After completing his BBA at Wilfred Laurier University, Gaurav worked at global packaged goods brand Unilever from 9 to 5, and also worked on his two passion projects from 5 to 9: helping his family get a new bridal brand off the ground, and helping his close friend build a career in music. Almost two decades later, Gaurav owns The New Delhi Company, one of the premiere Bridal and Lifestyle brands in North America, and he manages JUNO and Emmy Award winning artist Shad. Gaurav is blessed with a unique understanding of the human spirit, loves supporting his team’s personal growth, instinctually takes the peaceful path and he knows that the best things in life are not things.

Navjot Saini | Creative Director
Navjot, aka FASHNAVI, grew up in Rajasthan and has been deeply enamored with fabrics and fashion from a young age. He moved to Toronto in 2017 to study fashion at Humber College and joined The New Delhi Company in 2018 where he has grown from Bridal Stylist to Creative Director. His brain holds a catalogue of every runway and every photoshoot from Sabyasachi to Chanel, from Torani to Tom Ford. Navjot is blessed with boundless creativity and understands how to showcase the human form in a way that is otherworldly.

Zeel Rana | Bridal Stylist + Lifestyle Product Manager
Zeel grew up in Ahmedabad and has been studying and working in Indian fashion for as long as she can remember. Graduating with a Bachelor of Design in Textile Design from NIFT, Zeel has since worked on collections for brands including Anita Dongre and Place the DOT. She joined The New Delhi Company in 2023 after moving to Toronto. Zeel is blessed with an innate artistic sensibility and the unique ability to express this artisanal wisdom through a variety of mediums like fashion, interior design and the visual arts.

Amrit Kaur | Store Manager
Amrit has always loved various forms of art. From Picasso’s paintings to Drake’s raps, to precision make-up, to vegetarian cuisine, Amrit is here for it all, never missing a concert, an immersive art experience, a sample sale or new veggie eats. She is our longest standing staff member at The New Delhi Company and is so helpful to our clients. Amrit is blessed with an incredible memory and a process-oriented approach to her work, which rounds out our team’s skill set, and allows The New Delhi Company to be a leader in customer satisfaction.
